SWR Goliath III 410

Just picked this cabinet up for what I thought was a good price. Can anyone tell me how to figure out if it's an 8 ohm or 4 ohm cab? I opened it up from the back and all I can see is the sticker on the side of the magnet that says BG1080C 8 The crossover says 8ohm, so I'm guessing it's an 8ohm. Oh yeah...it's pretty clean, sounds good and I paid $200. Was really looking for a 4ohm cab, but thought I couldn't pass it up.

The jack panel should have the system impedance listed. Chances are best that it's an 8-ohm cab, as they were far far more common. $200 is a good deal for a cabinet that will play damn near any gig you could ever hope to land and sound good doing so. Mine was a workhorse for years.

Thanks Bufalo, I would've thought it would be there as well, but nope. I did give a call to Fender Customer Service today. Gave him the serial no. and it is an 8ohm, built in 2003. Nice guy. He's even gonna send me a Fender tshirt(after a little prodding). It is nice to know that Fender actually does seem to care about customer service again...even for a line they bought then "retired". Almost makes me think there's hope for this world. Almost.

I thought $200 was more than fair, given it's shape and how it sounded. I have an 8ohm Eden 210 that I can sit on top and really shake the rafters. Guess I really wanted an 8ohm cab after all.

Nope - you needed a 4 ohm 4X10 if you wanted to use it with a 2X10.

With both cabs being 8 ohms, you will be sending the speakers in the 2X10 twice the wattage of the speakers in the 4X10.

So 8 ohm drivers wired/series parallel for an 8 ohm total, most likely the same drivers as the Junior (210) 4 ohm version (as was the case with series I and II which only had 4 ohm two-tenners and 8 ohm 410s); this pairs with the info in this thread, about what the 8 ohm Jrs (and, I infer, the 4 ohm 410) are loaded with (16 ohm drivers). Not at all relevant to the OP but somebody else might search for this in the future.

Over my head, but thanks for the input. If only I had a clue.
