I used for a few gigs my SWR Natural Blonde with a new CORT acoustic fretless bass and people were coming to tell me how great the sound was (and the CORT is not what I call an outstanding product, perhaps what I got is the top of the line of their acoustic basses but nothing truly exceptional), how clear, acoustic, just nice.
I just received last week, after "just" 7 months wait, my Azola Ultracoustic Baby Bass and it sounds absolutely perfect on the Natural Blonde. It is indeed an amp that works the very best with an acoustic bass, the sound is truly outstanding, at least in my studio, haven't had the chance to try in in a live gig yet with the Azola.
I used it for a few months with a Yamaha Silent Bass SLB-100, a great instrument but not really an "acoustic" bass as the Azola.
I find the controls of the SWR indeed a bit tricky but once you get used to tweak as little as possible and you find the "right" sound for the bass, the sound is great. I haven' t found out yet how to use at its best the back speaker control, if someone has any tips they would be appreciated. The 2 separate channels are very useful since you can keep connected 2 basses (separate "mute" key) with 2 different sound settings and just play the bass you wish throughout the gig. The amp is small and heavy but very easy to transport, a great piece of gear that I would reccomend for DB and any acoustic bass.
