SWR SUper Redhead Speaker Replacement

I have recently blown 1 of the speakers in my super redhead combo and debating whether or not to buy a replacement or go a different route. I have heard that the Eminence Delta 10-A works well in the combo. I have also heard the Eminence Legend BP102 is a good match for the combo, boasting a lower frequency range but less RMS and only a 92 DB SPL. Anyone out there ever replaced the speakers with something else or have nay thoughts? Or should I just go back to the original 175W PAS drivers? I gig 3 times a week and am looking for something that will handle the load.

The PAS will be the most expensive. However, since you only blew one speaker, check the other to make sure its okay. and perhaps just replace one speaker for now, with a PAS. Unless you are willing to replace both, I would go the delta route, as the legend, sold as a bass speaker has a weaker basket.

I replaced mine with GK drivers wich are deltas thru and thru. I also have an origional set of edens from the ampeg era. Sick. Make sure what you buy will line up with the speaker mounts, unless you want to drill and drill and drill and route and drill.

The other one is not blown, but has stress marks on the outside where the paper has flexed. Is the frequency response of the deltas going to hurt the low end? I read that they are more of a mid-bass speaker.

circuitshop.com does great recones.
they did my redhead when i creased the drivers as you did.

run an extension cab, rather than overwork the combo.

no need to replace.
there's nothing wron with your frames and magnets etc; no need to pay to replace them.
it cost me $55 per to get mine rebuilt with official PAS parts.

Just loaded in the eminence deltas and a new tung sol preamp tube, WOW! This thing has loads of volume and bottom end. These speakers produce a much cleaner sound and sound 10 times better than those POS.., I mean PAS speakers ever did. Worthwhile upgrade for $120!
