SWR Workingman 12 combo question

I really like the tone of these amps. My question is do the Workingman amps such as the 2004,4004 etc have the same tone but with more watts? Ive tried some of the other SWR heads like the red face one and the SM400 and the tone to me were different.

The red head is a tube amp, that's why it's different. I'm not aware of any head that is the exact same as the one you're talking about, but SWR makes a Workingman 15 that I believe is 480 watts...

I love my 112 althogh it has developed a buzz. I have a matching 12 in a cut down cabinet from another 112 in which the amp was trashed. It realy has a lot of balls.

Tubes are always sweeter, but a bit more fragile and moody.

This is not to the OP's original question, but just to add my .02 to the SWR family discussion: I have a Workingman's 10 and a 12 and at one point I had to have the complete set so I bought the 15 and I was disappointed that I couldn't get the clarity out of it. It moved air, and I'm sure was as bulletproof as its little brothers, but I didn't find it to be "more of the same but bigger" as I had hoped.

+1 I owned both the WM's 12 and 15. LOVED the 12, but the 15, not so much.

IIRC, Redhead was not a tube amp, it's a hybrid, same as the SM-400. The 12's a good combo, but if I was to get a head, it'd be the SM series.
