Hey all! Quick question I can't find any info on. Do Rondo's SX basses have pickguards due to the routing or are they able to go naked? I'm looking at the ones with the Sadowsky-looking headstock. Thinking about buying one for a defret experiment and had this question. Any help or pictures appreciated. SX Ursa 2 MN Alder 3TS - RondoMusic.com Cheers!
I just bought an Ursa II on closeout, alder body but with old style headstock. Assuming the bodies are the same, the neck pickup route is larger then the pickup itself, although pickup-shaped, not squared off.
It's actually a pretty huge route, too. Big enough that I wouldn't consider going naked. Maybe if you widened it a hair more and put one of those double jazz pickups in it. Yeah, it's a big route.
Yeah, you're not going to get a bass that can go naked for $150. I gotta pic around here of what an SX looks like w/o the PG. Gimme a minute to find it.
I just bought the natural version of that bass. I love it. It needed very little work out of the box. Not planning a defret, but still a great bass.
