I too like my stock pups on my SX jazz bass. The only problem i had with them is that the poles protrude from the pups too much which makes contact with the strings creating a crazy metallic popping noise. If your handy, you can take out your pups, remove the back plates + magnets and use the butt end of a screwdriver to force the poles into the housing. Either shim or fill the new empty space on the bottom of the pups (poles will now be protruding out the bottom) with hot glue and put the pups back in and your set!
I also recently shielded and grounded the bass cavities with metal tape (dead quiet now), and added a DPDT switch to get more oomph. Other than that, it's still all stock and i'm still loving it!
