I bought a SX SJB 62 CT bass from Rondo two years ago. Here in Spain SX is still a fairly unknown brand.
I put on it a Badass II bridge, 500k Shadow pots, a Fender No-Load tone pot and a pair of DiMarzio Model J pickups. It sounded pretty clean but the mid-lows were quite dry and the highs sounded too strident (slapping was a bit painful for my ears). Once I properly set up the pickups polepieces it sounded warmer but still kind of "hollow".
A month ago I decided to swap the pots for normal CTS 250k pots. The highs turned more mellow but the bass sounded too dark so I swapped the pickups for a pair of AERO Type 1s. The result is amazing: deeper lows, more musical mids, mellow highs, much more volume and definition... now it sounds to me like a real Jazz Bass.
I guess this kind of thread has been repeated a lot in TB so here is my special contribution:
