SXSW -- Going?

I'm going -- somewhere else. :D

For those of us who live in Austin, SXSW means we can't get into our favorite venues and restaurants, and the downtown traffic is a nightmare. It's why a lot of New Orleanians leave their city during Mardi Gras. What started out as a party for them has turned into something else entirely. There used to be a lot of Austin bands in SXSW, but not any more.

And there are those of us who live in Austin who think SXSW is the best week of the year. I ride my bike downtown and all over, wherever I want to see shows. I'm downtown from 11am - 4am every day of the week and last year I spent a grand total of $20 on food and drink for the whole week. Lots of great live music, free food and drink. What could be better?

Whatever blows your skirt up. I'll be playing four gigs during SXSW at non-venues.

I was on the production crew at Liberty Lunch for most of the SXSW's in the 90's, so I'm not uninitiated to what it's all about. I had a fine time and heard a lot of great music, but I much prefer to be on that side of the membrane; I'm not that interested in experiencing it as a consumer.

But to each his own; I hope you have a great time.

Peace,

I'll be going to SXSW. I'll def check all your bands out. Sounds awesome. I'm really excited about SXSW.

Have you seen the Freelancer.com Internet Scavenger Hunt with US$50,000 in prizes. You're meant to create a team and complete as many tasks as possible and the team with the most points wins.

I think a lot of the tasks are going to have something to do with being at SXSW.

Does anyone want to create a team together??
