Hello guys,
I was listening to Right Here's The Spot by Basement Jaxx featuring Meshell Ndegeocello, and I was wondering if it was possible to get that sound out of a bass synth unit.
I'm a Akai Deep Impact owner, but I doubt I can achive that sound out of it...
It should be a "normal" keybord synth in the song.

i was saying use an octaver and play an octave up, so it would sound like you are just playing a standard tuned bass, like if you were playing on the 12th fret, the octaver would make it sound like you were playing the open string...you would also turn off the direct level, leaving the octave-only and that might give that "hollow" bass that you hear in the recording, and then it sounds like there is might be a fuzz, or an open envelope distortion...actually, i think i might be able to get a similar sound with my digitech BSW, i will try it after work...

just for an example, i can get a close sound with my BSW, Invalid Link Removed

if there were a way that i could cut out the direct level, i would, and if i could put a low-pass filter on the octave, i would, and you'd have an extremely similar sound imo

keep in mind this was made on a synth keyboard, so those changes that i said i'd make can be done with some of the modules...i doubt it was a bass running through any kind of processor, i would say its a real synth, if you like that sound, check out DARE by the gorillaz

what would be really nice is if you could split your signal, set one line to an octave down with a low pass filter (no clean signal) and then take the second line and put it through a LoFi pedal or an extreme fuzz pedal after an open wah...then play an octave up, and if it wouldn't be a perfect copy of the sound you are looking for, it might be a really cool sounding sound anyways :)
