Synthy Fuzz Sound for Active Basses

I've own a Woolly Mammoth, and now own a Brown Dog. I would say the Brown Dog handles the active basses better, but it isn't perfect. I like the BD, it's pretty darn good for what I need. If you play it live with a band, you probably won't notice how it's reacting like you would by yourself. I'm sure there are better ones out there, but I gotta say I like the BD a lot, it's very flexible. If I was to record, I would just use a passive bass to make it as perfect as possible, live it blends in enough not to worry too much. Yes, $232 is steep, but I think it's worth it.
