T-40 neck replacement? Want narrow nut.

Hi,

The main thing I like about the American Jazz bass is the playability of the neck. Has anyone every put a new neck on a T-40? Is there a neck that fits easily? Probably with dimensions like a JB; 1.5 inch nut and about a 7.5 inch radius.

Thanks

How about having the neck re-shaped?

I'm sure a good tech or luthier could do it. In fact, I've personally re-shaped and profiled a few hefty P sized necks to a 1-7/16" width at the nut (original J bass nut width).

Should not be a problem but most bolt on necks are not as wide as the T-40 but if you can live with the gap...
My T-40 was a budget buy because the original neck had a snapped truss rod, essentially they priced it as a case and threw in the parts. I fitted a plain jane P-bass neck from AllParts (using the oem Schaller tuners) all told it was less than $100.
