T.C. Electronic BH800 first impressions...

Received the new T.C. Electronic BH800. Tried it with a 1x12 Bergantino. Really sounds great and very loud, and that's with an 8 ohm cabinet. I know there's some debate about T.C.'s spec (claimed wattage) credibility, but my impression is that it was more powerful than the LWA1000 and Streamliner 900, and much more so than the TH500. Full, traditional sound to my ear, but clean and punchy. Not a clinical or sterile sound. Downloaded the TonePrint app but haven't tried it yet. There seemed to be something loaded on one of the two TonePrints that enhanced the tone as you increased it. So far, quite pleased with this amplifier. I will try it with other cabinets later in the week.

I got a real good deal on a BH500 a month or two ago. Everybody seems to bad-mouth them, but I'm very pleased with it. I normally use GB Shuttle 9.0 heads, and this thing seems to have a ton of power as well as pretty darn good tone. My only complaint is that it only has one speaker cable port; but I was using it with a 4-ohm GB Uber 410 cab and it sounds killer. I haven't run it through an 8-ohm cab yet, but even with an 8-ohm, I think it will have plenty of oomph. So if they did misrepresent the power, it sure doesn't seem like it to me. Plenty of good, clean power.

Bought a BH800. Will be in today or tomorrow. I like all the features except the inability to tune a bass to "half step down" with the built-in tuner and the fact there is no effects loop (for say my Morley Dual Bass Wah). Maybe they will make a software upgrade for the tuner issue someday. I've been reading a lot of great things about this and can't wait to hook it to my GK 4x12 NEO cabinet to see what it can really do.

I wouldn't hold my breath on that. Maybe things have changed, but I had some back and forth with them on the subject. Unfortunate because it seems that it should be an easy enough thing to do, considering a $10 Korg Pitchjack can do it.
