Double Bass Takamine tb10

Hi all. I have really been eyeballing the Takamine tb10 the past couple of days. While there is scant info and videos really showing the bass in action I seem drawn to the size and portability as a stand up bass. Right now I have a huge dog house that I love the feel and fit of...but....I don't know the but. Like I said I am drawn to the Takamine for some reason. I don't use a bow and play rockabilly/psychobilly. Would anyone that has this bass recommend it? If so why?

No one has ever owned one; none has ever sold. Kidding aside the appeal to me is they can be played upright or guitar style, and they're just beautiful.
Tak electronics & finish quality are excellent on other Tak acoustic products ive owned but I've never owned a tb10. I imagine theyre consistent or only gets better at that price point.

I owned one for about a year. Playing it was a little odd. The long end pin and lack of body to lean against made it feel strange to play standing up. I found it worked best playing seated on a stool. It sounded pretty good, still sounds like a big electric bass though with a little more "air" to the sound.

I agree with rudy4444 - not really suited to rockabilly.

They're pretty rare and you will pay lots ($2.5K+ I'd guess) if you could find one. They were around $3500 new if I remember correctly.
They're a lot heavier than they look like they'd be...not very live feeling to play.
Acoustically they are in the quiet range compared to other ABGs.
Sonically they sound more like an EUB than a double bass...that's a big (and possibly meaningless?) generalization...they definitely have their own unique voice.

What about a Gretch Broadkaster or something? Those kinda got a rockabilly vibe. Would a Jerry Jones be pushing the limits of acceptability?

Play one ... you'll change your mind. Unwieldy as an acoustic/electric bass guitar, and not near the tone and volume of a double bass. They look cool, though. I ws interested in the Broadcaster a few months ago. After playing four of them at different GC outlets, I passed. Didn't like the neck, and the contruction seemed shoddy (mis-aligned pickups, finish flaws, stiff pots, and more).

If you could find an Azola Deco it's everything the Tak should have been: reasonable weight, big acoustic volume, very live feeling, very acoustic sounding.
