Talk about UGLY... show off unattractive stacks

Nasty, but I find it attractive.

So far Metal Matt has the most badass ugly rig.

And to the guys saying "waah, this thread should be closed," the thread is asking people to post their own rigs that THEY think are ugly. I doubt anyone's going to get insulted about it. It's tongue in cheek. Ugly rigs that people like because they are ugly. Kinda like bulldogs.

Forgive me if this is stupid...I'm sure its somewhere but I can't find where it says ugly gear threads aren't allowed. Does anyone know where it says that? I was just curious b/c I'm new here.

This needs an update.... i've gotten three amps since this picture.
But no more speakers. Dangit....

I now also have a 100w Superbass Equivalent, two more combo amps, and a Old Kustom head. :D

I'm not a mod, nor do I play one on TB...
but my understanding is that the intent of the "ugly gear" rule is to prevent people from ragging on other people's gear.
You're allowed to call your own gear ugly.

Edit - I just checked - the rule IS posted on the bass forum, and it does NOT apply to calling your own gear ugly - that's permitted.

from here on out there will be no more ugly bass threads tolerated in the bass forums, unless you are posting about your own instrument.

Amber Valentine of Jucifer has a rig consisting of anywhere up to 18 cabs and however many amps to run it all. Definitely one of the ugliest rigs ever constructed IMO.

Recently she's painted the whole thing white and started setting it all up in a solid flat wall behind the drummer....Still appears to be horrendously ugly...

I know she's not a bass player, but for what it's worth, there are some bass cabs in her rig. ha

Friends Band. He's the bassist. He uses two MarkIV heads through a whole assortment of cabs. He builds pedals and what not so his rig is pretty weird.

The picture does his rig no justice though, half of it is out of the frame. On top of that, its an old picture so he has added quite a bit more to the rig over time.

About the "Ugly" issue:

The thing is, we're kind of perversely attracted to these worn out, mongrel rigs! -- at least, I am.

I don't know, maybe they're kind of like our grandparents: old, wizened, and not destined for any magazine covers; but man, they've made a contribution over their lives, and the fact that they keep on giving is pretty kewl. :^}

The other thing is: In this out-of-control consumer society, I really like it when something old remains serviceable, so that more forests don't have to get cut down (for instance) to build us the latest and hottest gear.

Like: well into the '90's people used to laugh at me doing my word-processing on an Atari computer; but I was fiercely proud that the primitive thing was still serving my needs perfectly well!

cheers all,

-pw
