Well as I mentioned earlier in this thread - those are acronyms and not slang/jargon!

How long does it take people to "get" this.....?

Honestly, the only reason that I titled it that was (other than the fact that I was extremely tired) was that everytime someone talks about eBay there is a slang term for it (i.e. evilBay). I was just sleep deprived (2 hrs sleep) and didn't know what I was doing.

Yes, Mr Lindfield, but acronyms and abbreviations are a part of jargon, especially on the internet.

But this started out as being about slang specific to TB and has degenerated into internet acronyms - which is a whole other topic and pretty dull, to boot...

I disagree. There was nothing in the original post that said that this was TB-specific, and this being an internet forum, all acronyms and jargon terms would crop up somehow. I frequent a CSI forum - a topic deviant from TB in every sense - and the same acronyms and slang terms pop up there.

Also, the original post listed only acronyms.

Well, I've been seeing a lot of newbies lately and a lot of the terms we use around here can be confusing. I could stand to have a couple terms explained myself too

We'll start off with this:
DIY: I take it this means "Do it yourself"
FWIW: I gather this means "For what it's worth"
GAS: Gear Aquisition Syndrome

As far as selling gear goes:
DOA: Dead on arrival.
F/S: ???

No other ones are coming to mind right now, but feel free to add to the list.
