Checking out the reading on SBL with the 14 day trial (my second trial somehow but I'll take it!). Per the comments that the length of the course is due to being padded out with filler I would say that's not the case. It is however very slow and repetitive which may or may not be a good thing. I'm finding it useful to skim through and go over areas I am not knowledgable about.
I also picked up the beginner-intermediate reading lessons off of Berlin's sight. The etudes look like a good place to start for now (much better than what I am seeing on the SBL course but may get better as I work through the rest of it). Can't comment on the videos as they are Vimeo links that you have to request access to and I haven't been given access yet. Pretty wonky system imo but should be worth the wait from what I've seen. The beginning etudes are very basic so don't think I need the videos for now anyway. May have been better off buying the book which is cheaper (not sure if it's the same material or not).
I am sure the talking bass series is good but just cant justify the funds for that series right now.
Plan on checking out some of the other books mentioned here when I am ready. Thanks again for all of the responses.
