Tap Harmonics

Just wondering if anyone has seen/done tap harmonics, I just realized i could do them tonight.

It makes it really easy to tune tap with the right, tune with the left

cool i thought it's kinda neat, especially if you did wooten mid-harmonic tuning, I dont have quite the ear yet though
can make some cool ambient stuff with it though

Cliff Burton did tap harmonics on (Anesthesia) Pulling Teeth. I have seen Billy Sheehan do them on some vids. I have never heard them outside of a solo tho.

Yea, I been doing them for some time, great stuff to plug in a little interlude or whatnot, or to end a little solo.

how do you play a tapped harmonic?? i just cant do it

I used right hand tap harmonics for an ostinato and left hand for a bassline (apart from the bridge section).

hold down the note on the lower register then tap the note on the higher register.

ex. Hold down the fifth fret, and tap over the 17th fret on the e string.

If you are doing an open string note, you can just tap on the 12th fret.

david i just checked out your myspace, and all i have to say is some of the most intuitive use of the bass guitar i have seen in years, It was awesome. also, that drums never stop thing, i laughed so hard, did you make that up?

Thanks man! That 'drums never stop' thing is not my idea - it's a really old joke that I decided to submit as a "beginner at pro tools" voiceover assignment back at uni. So I raided the percussion room for dejmbes and bongos and went crazy, and scripted it with british sounding grammar and names to try and get the vibe right. I'm glad you dug it!
