Tape Wound Question

On my latest bass I wanted to throw some heavy flats on it, but the store sold out of them and I didn't want to wait another two weeks for new ones.
So, I just looked for anything in the same gauge so that I wouldn't have to re-set up the bass when I switched over to flats later - the only thing they had was a pack of tape wounds.

I am digging the sound and the feel for the most part, but on some parts of the string they feel...well...tapey...kind of sticky.
Does this go away?

Any more focus to the 'tapey, sticky' feel? Fretting or plucking hand, only during slides, et cetera?

Fretting hand - it's not really when I do anything, it's more just certain areas here and there, certain parts of the string has a bit of a goopy/sticky feel to it

The tapes I have used in the past pretty much stay the same. Maybe with time and wear they won't.
