tape wound strings for a Gold Tone MicroBass

Hi
I have a GT 25 inch microbass, that came with silverback strings and a set of aquila thundergut strings ( automatic sausaging in days of installation) Silverbacks are too metal sounding.

I like the tape wound sound of my D'addario nylon tape wound medium gauge strings I have on my 40 year old Ibanez Studio Quadraloc bass.

Does anyone make a tape wound string for the micro bass scale of bass guitars?

Many guitar manufacturers are making short scale basses, but I can only find round wound composite core strings.

Gold Tone told me the Microbass would not be able to handle the tension of a tape wound string.

What have other short scale bass owners found?

Thanks in advance for your input.
