Tapes comparison

Is there a significant difference in the tone from the La Bella black nylon tapes (750-N) and the D'Addario tapes (ETB92M) on an acoustic bass? Thanks very much.

This is on an electric Fender Jazz bass, but to the extent it's useful...



I thought the 750N set felt a good bit more flexible than the D'Addarios, and that they sounded thinner.

Yes. To my ears, the La Bellas have a rich, even, albeit dark tone. The D'A's have a scoop tone similar to their XL sets, of course with rolled off top end.
