Are $45 Labella tapewounds much better than $25 D'Addario tapewounds? Thinking about switching from regular flats to tapewounds on my Epi Allen Woody. Thoughts/experiences?

Yes, get the Carvin tapes. They are repackaged La Bellas.

I guess it depends on what you mean by "better". The La Bellas are smoother feeling and have a heavier gauge, and are warmer sounding. Almost luxurious.

The D'Addarios are brighter by a little.

    Both are very nice strings.

I have tried 2 sets of D'addario's now. One on a fretless, one on a fretted. Now, this was my first experience with Tapes, but I couldn't be happier with the feel of them and the Tone they produce. :)
