Tapping your foot when you play

I have heard comments that sometimes all 4 of us (2x guitars, singer, me) are all tapping our feet in unison.

My foot is like its own entity, it just taps when it feels like it. I almost always tap on rests to keep my timing, or I pat my bass with my right hand. Sometimes I even stop my foot with the beat.

I had a terrible, terrible show yesterday, I was playing a bonjovi song at my music school's show and could not get in synch with our drummer if my life depended on it. Afterwards my teacher said: Next week, we're working on your toe tapping!
