Hey guys
I was wondering if anyone els has experienced this problem before. My buddy just picked up a Tascam US800 with Cubase LE5. All the drivers installed fine, his computer has more than enough processor speed and RAM. There are no issues when starting up cubase, and the tascam internal mixer feature works fine.
Here's the problem. After a minute (anywhere from 12 seconds to 70) of recording, the sound drops out. I mean the computer stops recognizing a signal coming in from the tascam. He has to reboot it to get the sound to recoignized by the tascam again. Sometimes after this happens and he closes out cubase, it crashes, but sometimes it doesn't.
At first we thought it was the interface so we tried recording something into Audacity. We were able to record for minutes on end with no issues. Okay once it crashed but the tascam didn't crash out, we think we had the latency too short. Other than that Audacity recorded fine with the Tascam
What could be causing cubase to only record for a minute and then stop? The counter bar keep going, but as I said the signal for the sound drops away. Could be it a drvier issue? A cubase issue? Hardware? Any advice or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated.
