TB Hurricane Isaias thread.

So, we're going to our place in Surf City in an hour or so. Our plan was to stay until the evening of Sunday the 9th. Looks like we'll be driving back THIS Sunday and maybe going back down Tuesday evening if everything is clear(ish). If it's only going to be up to 50-60 mph gusts and some rain we'll ride it out down there. This one is moving way too fast for flooding. But being about 59 yards from tue ocean and right on a canal does make one stop and ponder....

Anyone else potentially in the bath of this thing?

Currently NOAA has it diminishing below Hurricane strength sometime between Sunday afternoon and Monday morning, while still south of Georgia.

I would track it see how that changes over time. Good luck.

Looks like it's going to be a strong tropical storm when it gets to tue NC coast. 70 mph is barely under hirricane status (75 mph).

I think we're gonna ride it out here. It'll get a little ugly around 1 a.m. Tuesday through dawn.

Any Florida TBers bracing for this? @JimmyM you guys ready? (Yeah we've been through all of this before.)

I don't think we'll get hit very hard in the Orlando area, so I haven't done much bracing. Usually in situations like this, we just get a lot of rain.

I'm in Queens, N.Y., not far from Jamaica Bay. I keep track of all hurricanes since 2012 with hurricane Sandy.
Her top winds were about 75 mph, if I remember correctly, and she messed up the Tri State area badly.

Overcast but calm in Surf City, NC (Coastal Island konda near the NC/SC border).

Sadly enough, we're about to go back home near Greenville, NC where it should he much worse.

But that's our primary home so we want to be there in case the power goes out or there is damage from winds. My guess is that it will be no biggie (by hurricane standards anyway). We're used to these things around here. I'll report back from home in the morning and back here tomorrow night (if all goes well).

The weather variation in Queens is nuts. I'm in Bayside and my neighborhood was almost untouched by the last big one.

Not too worried about rain and winds here in coastal Connecticut. But depending on storm strength, tides and wind direction, water can get "piled up" in the inlets on Long Island Sound. Saw some folks taking their boats out of the water this morning.

I'm not sure if flooding has ever closed a runway at JFK, but I do know that turtles have.

Welp, I should be able to give you guys a report from the worst of it shortly. If you'll notice the green dot in the middle of the screen.... and the path of the storm just barely west of that.... I'm only a little southeast of that green dot.

Tornado watches all over the area already. Let the fun begin!

Well, they called the Yankees/Phillies game in the Bronx, due to rain.
Here, in southern Queens, it was drizzling with wind, but it has since stopped.
I'm not sure if it's the vanguard of the storm or a separate system.

I don't think that was part of the main storm.

They are restarting the Yankee game now as the storm passed through. No rain on Long Island so far. Probably get some tomorrow along with some wind.

Worst hurricane ever for me. Woke up Sunday morning to a couple hours of rain, then it dried out in the afternoon. Forecast called for rain around 6, so I hurry up and mow the lawn and lay down weed and feed, which has to be watered in immediately or it can burn the grass. Cut to tonight, where I'm having to run my sprinklers because it still hasn't rained, and we're not supposed to get any more till tomorrow evening. Grass doesn't look too bad, but I'm a bit irritated at how wrong our weather forecasts are almost all the time. And then you watch the news, and those newscasters always say, "Beautiful day you gave us, Tom," or "Thank you for that badly needed rain, Roberta."

SHUT UP!!!
