TB Test

This is hilarious. I have to get blood drawn every 2 weeks, and they use a real needle (in fact, I had it done today). That TB test uses a needle about the size of an accupuncture needle. In a couple weeks, I have to go in for an MRI, and they're going to stick me with a #18 to inject the dye. Last time it took FIVE tries to get one in. A #18 is about the size of a big pencil lead.
You ought to see the size of the catheter they stick in your femoral artery for an angiogram (I've had 4). It's about the size of a pencil. I had the plug pop out of one once, and I felt something hot running down my leg. I was bleeding like a STUCK PIG! HAHAHAHAHAHA!

The needles dont bother me, in fact i kinda like it
Its just weird that the adult needle cant get my vein... so they have to use the kiddy needle. and it hurts more than the bigger adult needle.

I have to straighten out a little bit of this. Your results should be checked between 48 and 72 hours after your test was started. A red spot of whatever size is not a positive result. An induration is. An induration is a raised hardening of the skin. If you feel a little swollen area right around the wheal site (where they stuck you) then you have been exposed. Your description of symptoms already sounds a bit ominous, especially the night sweats. I'm suspecting a distinct possibility of INH or Rifampin in your near future.

i had to take the inh too, didnt stop me from drinking. i went about a month. just watch how much you are drinking and i think you will be alright.
I get to have a TB test today myself. The Coast Guard is transferring me down to Seattle, and since I'm going to a boat this time, I get to have a full physical, including many, many shots. First the TB test, then the anthrax vaccine, then smallpox, then tetanus, and then I get my blood drawn for all the fun other tests they need to run (HIV, Hep, etc.).
As long as I walk out of there with a Scooby-Doo band-aid, I won't complain.

oooh the smallpox shot sucks. they stick your arm about 20 times with a double prong needle. then you have to keep it covered for about a month and you have to go back every so often to get the bandage changed. and you get a little sick from the shot its self. some more than others. i was just kinda sick for one day. enjoy it!
