hey spudmaster, thanks a lot for the thread, but I've viewed it before.
Those all have reviews of the 400JJ's and the 400 single M's, but not the 400MM's. That's why I made this inquiry.
So has anyone played a 400MM? Anyone have any feedback on them?

Hey Dr. Cheese, yea, I ordered it.
It's extremely foolish to buy a bass without having tried it, but I felt that this was a good deal and worthwhile.
Hopefully these things aren't cheaply made, and they sound as good as everyone says.
I can always just return it.

Dude, I have the AP-500M (single MM) and I have been blown away by the quality of this bass. It is on par with a Tribute L-2500 or A Skyline 55-01. In fact, if you had not gotten the Ap-400MM, I may well have picked it up this week.
I can't guarrantee you will like your bass, but unless you somehow got a lemon, I can't imagine you not liking it.

Do you happen to know what the difference is in tone between the Single humbucker pickup and the double humbucker pickup?
The 400MM has two humbuckers, while the 400 (Single M) has one, as you probably know.

I have heard that the double MM sounds fine, but it doesn't get that true Stingray tone. That is not a surprise. Real HH Stingrays don't exactly get the classic Stingray sound either, but they are wonderful basses!

It's always funny to me the way so many people compare the TBCs with "MM" pickups to MusicMan basses. So the shape of the pup is the same, big deal. The TBCs are great and have their own sound. It's just as valid to compare a TBC to a MusicMan as it is to an active Fender or many other brands.
