Double Bass TC Bam200

Are you are intending to connect the Revsound and the Double Shot? That could be pretty interesting.
hadnt planned on it. The DS is for small gigs and jazz stuff, the Rev can handle larger rooms. Also, both cabs are 4 ohms and I don't have an amp that can go below 4. It would be interesting to see how they sounded together, though....

OK, this may win the cutest gig bag ever contest. Ordered this little Arriba Case (model AC-50) for the BAM, since I carry it around in a backpack and didn't want it rattling around loose. Perfect fit, even enough room for power and speaker cords. Around $12 from Musicians Friend.

Given the size and price of each piece of gear, you could just go ahead and order another BAM200, one for each cab at the same time ;)

Aahhh, that's adorable

I picked one of these little guys up a couple weeks back.
Played it for the first time with my band last night. (first rehearsal in 3 months)
I have to say, I shouldn't have judged a book by it's cover.
After owning an ELF for all of a day and returning it because it kept going into protection mode and shutting down, I kind of expected the BAM200 to not be much better. At $125 I couldn't pass up the chance to try this out.
Boy was I wrong in my assumptions!
This little head kept up with my lead foot drummer, and dual amp guitarist just fine.
I found it quite simple to dial in a very usable punchy, warm tone.
I ran the Gain at 2 o'clock and the Master at 12 o'clock for 2 straight hours through my Schroeder 4ohm 1210 cabinet. No issues what so ever.
The rehearsal space we were in is a 20x20 room and it was plenty loud. This amp seems like it would be great for gigs since most places run bass direct to front of house anyways.
At the price point you cant beat it!

I’ve had this head for over two years and have always enjoyed it. On occasion I have used my Clarus or MB Nano but have always preferred the more natural tone of the TC head. Last week, I loaned it to a friend to try with a small cabinet and also to bypass the MB Little Mark head in the 12” combo which is the house amp at a local club. He loved it and immediately bought one. He told me the AI Coda he has used for years comes up short.
This was nothing but confirmation for me and I just bought a second one! No more switching the head and cables from bag to bag depending on which I may use in a given situation.

I love this little amp and will be flipping the others. It’s time.

Hi folks.

Mine died yesterday (user error) and I purchased a new one yesterday. In my search to get one I saw a lot of suppliers saying they are out of stock and not getting more. This looks like they most likely will discontinue this great little head so get one while they are still around.

While I hope this isn't the case. It's happened before with bass heads that "favored" DB. GK got rid of the 200MB's because they upgraded to the MBS and MBE. Gentz Benz bailed on their Shuttle Series combos when Fender purchased the company.

I've been using the TC BAM 200 for a year now. I either pair it with an SVT 8x10 or two GK 2x12 Neos'. I play in 4 different bands and all the guitarists are using tube amps with 4x12 or 2x12 cabinets. The drummers are all heavy hitters. The amp volume on the Bam 200 never has to exceed 50%. And if I go past 50% volume, I'm instructed to turn down. I'm amazed at this little amp! My GK MB500 and Quilter BB800 are now the back up amps.

I had one for a few months, and used it with a small Audiokinesis Birdhaus . It was fine for trio gigs and backing up a singer.

Since I was using it primarily with a 5 string Lakland 55-94 I'll say that it worked amazingly well for that low a wattage amplifier.

I sold mine after getting a second powered MAS 1/8 v2 because you only need so many backups. I hope TC Electronics will keep

building this amp because young DB players need something light and affordable.

Young and old Ric. I’ve spent way too much money on amplification, thinking (for example) that two channel Focus head would give me THAT SOUND. Then, there is one more thing to carry. I prefer the sound I get out of this $150 head to everything I’ve had in the past. Sure, it’s best for smaller groups but I regularly use it on quartet gigs with a moderately loud drummer and rarely need more power. It needs an efficient cabinet and I prefer it into 4 ohms. Yes, I think every upright player in the world should have one in the bag.

Which cab do you recommend?
Thanks in advance

That’s a difficult question to answer because I don’t use anything currently available, but in my opinion it should be.
I bought one of these broken combos and replaced the driver with a 4 ohm eminence which matched the parameters of the Chinese driver well in that it works well in such a small box. This cabinet has a very tight sound with some midbass peak and limited low end. I suspect it rolls off quickly below 80hz but has more than enough in actual use. If I didn’t have my hands full trying to run a business I would try to duplicate it. After using the Acme B-1s, Wizzy 10 and Crazy 8 I much prefer this little box. The only other cabinet I own is the metal extension for the GK MB150S which is OK too. The key for me is a tight, focused sound.

According to this, the default voicing of the BAM200 is not at all neutral; it's quite mid scooped. Looks like it can be pretty flat through the mids with some pretty extreme settings, but it sill has a good bit of high-end and low-end roll-off. I can certainly imagine how this could work well in many situations, but the main limitation I see is that I would not care to put a mic through it. (As my primary amp anyway. It'd be totally fine as a backup.)

I have to give a shout-out to this little but very amazing amp. I bought a TC BAM 200 a week ago after the very positive feedback in this thread as a backup amp, and for less than optimal venues and gigs. My normal concert rig is Erhlund EAP and DPA 4099 > Grace Design Felix > Baby Sumo Power Amp > MAS 16 or MAS 25.
Right now I am on a little tour in Denmark, and today I played an outdoor concert on a harbour near the ocean, and it was very windy. I set up my normal concert rig, but couldn’t use the DPA because it was causing to much noise from the wind. So on a whim I took out the BAM (it’s so small that it is living in one of the pockets in my doublebass gigbag). So the signal chain was Ehrlund > Ehrlund preamp > BAM > MAS 16. I also took the DI-out from the BAM and sent it to FOH. And what a beautiful sound!!! The only reason I used the Ehrlund pre, was because I needed a Phase switch. The EQ on the BAM was very sufficient, and I was amazed at how good it sounded. Amazing little pieze of gear for an amazing price!!!
