TC Electronic BAM 200 TRS input?

Hi,

I've just seen on @disssa 's website a picture of an opened BAM 200 amp
Invalid Link Removed
and noticed that the input uses TRS (=3 contacts, like the phones out, whereas the speaker out is only TS).

Anyone got any ideas why they used a TRS socket?
Maybe it is possible to use this amp with a symmetrical input, stereo input or similar?

Thanks
JR

Pure speculation here but it might be used for switching something in the amp like a TRS is used in an active bass output jack to connect the battery and power up the bass's preamp. They're also used in some amp's effects loops to disconnect the preamp from the power amp.

It's not uncommon for manufacturers to use TRS jacks for TS purposes. There's not an appreciable price difference and it reduces the number of different parts to source and keep in inventory. A glance at the schematic would tell you if the ring terminal is actually connected to anything.
