TC Electronics RebelHead 450 - Rebel with a Cause

finally studio tone live and/or anywhere.
the algorithms and everything else running through that thing have got to be nuts. watch some of the videos on the TC site for their studio project konnect thingy, the first vid is a bass line being recorded exclusively with TCs front end/software recording interface..... sounds great, and I don't think that this apple is gonna fall far from that tree.
It's a company that KNOWS how to build and studio grade gear and they've tailored that for bass and thrown in a power section. Awesome. Can't wait to hear one.

If the rear port is placed properly, and I'm confident TC would get that detail right, it would only be a problem if the cab was pushed right up against a wall.
I'm not in the market for speaker cabs, but the RebelHead appeals to me quite a lot. I really like the feature set, and I love the interface: versatile without being complicated. Knowing TC, the tones are there in spades.
At this time I don't need 2 ohm operation, so the only downside is that I frequently play without PA support, sometimes at crazy loud volumes where 450 watts would not be enough.

Pardon this potentially stupid question, as I have never had to do this nor have I thought of doing it...
The video where they go over the back panel, he mentioned daisy chaining multiple amps using the pre-out and post-in. What would that essentially do for you? What are the benefits? Louder? Better?

I'm sure he was referring to dedicated preamps, or preamp sections of bass heads. There would be no power amp in the FX loop (or preamp out/power amp in loop). Exception might be if it was driving another speaker cab... but that would be pretty weird.

He actually mentioned "chaining amps together". I'd point to the video but their site appears to be down at the moment.
yep. if you need more volume( more cabs) going then what you do is get 2 REBELHEAD450s.
Use 1 as the main amp/preamp, have that hooked up to whatever speakers you have.
THEN take the Effects SEND out of that head and go to REBELHEAD #2 into it's Effects RETURN
You are then using head #2's power section and not it's preamp section so it's being utilized as a second poweramp to power more cabs of it's own.

A little bit disappointed with this...
I was expecting a feature which would make us all go "Oh wow, I can't believe that hasn't been done before!" but instead its just a good amp head with lights and a semi-parametric EQ.
Hopefully it will be a good, high quality addition to the market, but it really isn't revolutionary. Still Eminence speakers in the cabs just like every other cab and his dog...

I can't believe an inline, full-time-active tuner was not included in all amps up until now. This amp also has the potential to replace three of my five pedals (compressor, drive, tuner), plus store the perfectly-honed eq settings for my passive (P & J), active (Modern), and fretless basses. Not too shabby.
I'd say evolutionary, not revolutionary.
Precisely. There's not much new stuff you can do to a bass amp, but over here they have managed -
3 band compressor
4 band semi-para EQ
tuner
tube sim
headphone out
direct outs
practice in
All that, AND it's a bass amp. I think that's cool in itself. It's not world-turning revolutionary, but i think MarkBass was the last world-turning bass amp revolution, and i don't think there will be any more.
this is one exciting amp, looking forward to trying this one out !!! 
if tc electronic's pedigree in studio, pro sr and effects is anything to go by, the amp will be of the highest quality.
