TC Sentury

I’m adding one to my set up. MIJ P Bass into Ampeg SGT-DI into Mesa D800+ with SW115.

The bass is a real buzzer. Shielding didn’t work very well. Adding the SGT-DI to the set up took the buzzing to an extreme level.

I believe the TC Sentury will eliminate the noises while not playing.

Will a sound company still hear a hum or buzz during songs coming from my send?

The pedal is suppose to arrive Thursday

Wait, TC Sentry?

I prefer to identify and fix noise at the source rather than use a pedal. If you have hum, where is it originating from? Is your J pickup hum cancelling? If not, you may be better off using the money for the sentry and getting a hum cancelling PJ pickup set.

It’s the single coil p bass pick up and it’s noisy.

I was considering the Fralin stacked pick up but it would involve some work making the cavity big enough to fit it.

The SGT-DI is adding noise to the chain so I’m hoping the noise gate will take care of both.

My bandmate has a gate he uses to tame his Les Paul. It works great.

I’m clueless about this stuff but I can’t even rehearse with the bass because the hum is soooo loud.

I’ll post the results when I get the pedal.

I’m misunderstanding you - you say it’s a single coil p pickup, but you said in the original post you’re playing a PJ bass. Are you referring to the J pickup by the bridge? 🤔
Actually I said MIJ P bass. (Made in Japan) it’s actually a CIJ so I did make a mistake.

Single pick up Telecaster bass. I have no idea what pick up is in it but single coils can be very noisy and this one is.

IME - you’re patching a problem, not addressing the underlying root cause.
Spend the $$ replacing the single coil.
The SGT-DI is merely amplifying existing noise. Mine is dead quiet!

I’ll have to look at the dimensions but that may require routing out the cavity on the CIJ bass.

I think the SGT-DI is adding noise too.

I definitely would like to buy the Stinger Stack. I don’t see them on their site. Maybe special order?
Per the pickup cavity, you might just need to open the hole a bit leading to the control plate so that the bottom of the pickup wires have enough room vs having to rout the cavity itself. Hope that makes sense.

The Stinger Stack is listed in their Custom Shop:

Thanks. I’ll check measurements and see how much body cavity routing is involved.

I have a Telecaster 6 string that is noisy too so the Sentury will have a use even if not needed for the bass.
