Hi all,
Here's one for the electronics specialists out there, of which I am not!!
I've owned a Tech 21 Bass Compactor pedal for years and despite it being derided on TB and Ovni lab
I actually really, like it (liked it perhaps....) for tone shaping and really gentle/subtle compression it's absolutely great.
Tech 21 Bass Compactor
The other night I plugged in the pedalboard and noticed the Tech 21 Bass Compactor wasn't lit up. I checked all the patch leads and swapped power cables from a different pedal on the board that was on, and narrowed it down to the bass compactor itself.
Upon closer inspection of the pedal the next day I opened up the battery compartment and my heart sank as I smelled an acrid burned component smell- now I'm no electronics expert-but indications aren't good.
Can anyone help me work out if it's worth repairing? I really like this pedal and they're discontinued. I've opened it up and there's no visible scorch but I can't see under the circuit board as I can't remove the input/output jack to have a look. Any Tech 21 experts that can advise? I really like this pedal but seeing as it's discontinued I simply can't replace it. Any advice would be appreciated.
