With one bass plugged into Input A and nothing in Input B, you should be able to switch between the Bank A presets and the three Bank B presets using the rightmost foot switch. Even though your bass is in A and the selected bank is B, you should still hear your bass. See at 10:08 here:



If that isn't working for you, you might have a bad jack at Input B. You could try inserting and removing a jack in Input B a few times and see if Input A works the way it's supposed to. I haven't had my Deluxe for a while now, though, so unfortunately that's all I can offer.

thanks for your kind reply. I will try to reset the VT Bass Deluxe to see if it helps. But my unit only switch between inputs and not banks. Maybe like you said, a bad connector on B.
I tried to connect to B input and I can have sound. So must have a defective unit.

Like I said, I don't have it any more, so I can't inspect or test this idea. But I wonder if there's a switch in the Input B jack that can tell when a plug is inserted. If that switch is broken, it may cause the malfunction you are describing. Hence my suggestion to "exercise" the jack a little. You might unstick that little switch (if there is one).

An email to Tech21 might help, too.

I replied to your PM just a minute ago. Bonin gave you the right info.
I had some issues with my A preset switch where it would not work every time I pressed it. These can wear out, and need to be replaced with the same control. I seem to recall that the Tech21 rep who is on TB told me that these switches are a specific type so you may need to check in with Tech21.

Your description of the issue is a little confusing. If the bank B light is on you have switched banks. Are you not getting sound when switching to bank B? If not, remove you bass from input A and plug into input B. If that works it means the switching jack on bank B is dirty and needs to be cleaned. that’s true. If I connect to the B input I have sound but if I am only connected to input A (main) if I switch to B on the pedal I can’t have sound. Not being able to use the 3 presets on bank B with my input on A. I will try to clean the switch on B. Any tips to do this the proper way? If I need a new switch do I need a special one? I’m from Portugal, it’s easy to find that part? Thank you for your reply. You guys make fantastic gear.

To clean the B input jack, you need some electronic tuner cleaner like Deoxit D5 by Caig. Do not use WD40. Spray some cleaner in the jack and work a 1/4" cable in and out of the jack a multitude of times and that should clean it. If you see the bank change to B there is no need to replace the switch.
