Teej's DIY Combo

My only comment is that the speaker mounting looks odd. I always prefer front mounting with a proper metal grille for protection.

Window screening is useless for protection. As Crockettnj asked, you could use pet screening that is well nigh indestructible. Even my German Shepherd couldn't get through the stuff and she'd just walk through the metal and nylon screening. God I miss that dog!

The window screen was only meant to be temporary, until I get a proper grill for it. And I know my method to mount the speaker is a little out of the ordinary, but what can I say... I'm a design student that doesn't like to do things that are ordinary. Ordinary is boring. I like the look of the stainless fasteners on the outside. As I type this, I'm looking at the combo thinking about how I should have fastened the port tubes the same way. :smug:

You haven't had any issues with loose jacks on the 1400, have you? The input jack on mine doesn't seem to hold the plug securely. I like feeling that "snap" when I plug in, but I'm not getting that, and I'm not really sure where to get replacements for this head.

Nice work, by the way. Kind of looks like an old Vox amp.

EDIT: I opened the amp and pulled the input/FX jacks board out just now. Looks like I could simply replace the jacks with new ones. I might make a trip to Radio Shack today. Hopefully, they'll have some enclosed ones I can use.

not any issues that I have notices, but I originally put it together as a practice amp for my daughter, so it's mostly sat in her room. I'm currenlty using it as a stage monitor at church, but only have been for about 3 weeks.

I don't remember what the input jack looks like on the inside, but it's not hard to pull out the head and take off the top cover to look around in there.
