Greetings, First time post..I've been playing for pay since '66, (yeah I'm old)...mostly guitar until 10 years ago, when I was asked to fill in on the bass and now I'm hooked.

I have a Hofner (looks like a black Les Paul) and a Gretsch with a similar shape. I like that shape and would like to find a Fender Tele like the Tele guitar...I have seen a Squire issue/reissue? I saw a picture of a country band from the '60's and they were all holding white Fenders, including the Tele shape I'm looking for. I have plugged into all the major dealers and it always comes up with signature Fender shape, P bass, Jazz etc but it's labeled Telecaster...????

Where should I be looking? Any help is appreciated...Thanks, Jack

Fender released a Modern Player Telecaster bass about 7 or 8 years ago. I bought one and liked it except that it weighed close to 10 Lbs. I sold it only because of the weight. It was an Asian made bass but fit, finish, detail, everything about it was done well. Just too heavy for my preference.

did you have issues with the bridge PU pole pieces not aligning with the E and G strings?

Keep looking, you'll find them out there. It's always interesting to me when a thread comes up that relates to what I just thought of doing. I have a custom 22" scale Telecaster guitar style bass made for me a few years ago that I just decided I'm going to have Pat Wilkins paint. It's natural poplar, but I never liked that the wood sections don't match up very well, so I decided to have it painted Fender Capri Orange.

I have never played one, but they get favourable reviews here on TB (see the Harley Benton club here on TB).

In the same store you can also preorder a Squier CV 50's P reissue, so I assume Fender is rereleasing them. I owned one of the previous run, and only sold it because a good deal on a Custom Shop reissue popped up in my neighbourhood.

The Warmoth Custom T comes in solid or hollow, though I wouldn't recommend hollow - that body shape has a short upper bout, and is therefore prone to neck dive. Making it hollow will only add to that problem. Another issue with short upper bouts - when you wear it on a strap, the end of the neck is a bit further out there. If you're tall, it might not be an issue, but if not, you might want to think about another body shape.
