You aren't crazy to try.. Granted I've never used a pre-made neck but I have made 2 EUBs... I thought they turned out ok but the issue I had was finding pickups I liked.. was never happy.. and so today my main DB is a NS.. But none the less you go for it. One thing if I was to use a pre-made neck [I have one laying around somewhere..] is I go full-on Rickenbacker and use a pipe for the body... but that's me..
