I don't hear $700 worth of difference... but that's just me.Worth the $700?![]()
I don't hear $700 worth of difference... but that's just me.
An Apogee Duet is $270, so that means there's only $475 worth of difference between them (REDDI's $745 now).
My mistake. Mistook the Firewire interface for the full version. In that case, the REDDI is only $150 more than the Duet, so it's an excellent value consideringA Duet is $595
Nope. According to the op. Its Duet and Reddi + duet. So no matter what, the duet is in the loop. Read guys...Aren't we comparing REDDI with REDDI + Duet?
Hysterical, yes, but it won't happen.I know I said I think #2 is the REDDI but it'd be hysterical if #1 was the REDDI.
Yep, did mine with a REDDI vs a VT Deluxe, and while IMHO the VTD came off quite well in that comparo, 73% correctly picked the REDDI. As for a full band mix, it's still quite obvious as far as I'm concerned. Maybe not as much in the low notes, but my band does a lot of 50's-60's-70's where the bass plays a lot of high notes, and that's where it becomes most obvious. Other DI's make the high notes lose their bottom, but with the REDDI they have as much meaty heft to them as the low notes. That's how I was able to correctly ID the REDDI in your test.Alright I think there's been enough input. I find results interesting. Track #2 is reddi and it looks like it's quite obvious since it got 60 votes out of 69 votes in total. If we count in thobbinghotrod's explanation it's 61 votes for #2 against 8 votes for #1. Roughly speaking that's 9 out of 10 for reddi and if I remember correctly Jimmy's tube challenge IV gave similar results. Whether reddi is worth it's price or not... It would be interesting to do another test like this but with full band mixes and/or with a different question: which one do you like better.
So when are we going to find out what's what?
Exactly what made the decision for me. Good to know I still have good hearing after all these years of rockin' outOther DI's make the high notes lose their bottom, but with the REDDI they have as much meaty heft to them as the low notes. That's how I was able to correctly ID the REDDI in your test.
