Double Bass Tensing up...

So, I've noticed that when I play, I really tense up my left hand, especially in fast passages and it really cuts my practice time. I also have an issue with a double-jointed pinky. Is there any way to avoid this tensing up issue I have? :help:

What does your teacher say?

Ummmmm....my bad.

I did look through the other threads and wasn't sure where to put. I figured I'd see one about injuries or something, I must have looked over the techniques one or something. I figured I'd be safe just putting it in one about double basses, I assumed it was more a general thread. Geez, y'all need to chill out, I got tired of reading the replies that DIDN'T have to do with my question, so no thanks to you guys.

To those who did reply, I appreciate it, I think I've sorted it out (a friend of mine said I was chicken-winging). So thanks for making me feel at least a tiny bit welcome.

To the rest of you. I apologize for turning your life upside down by posting in the wrong place. It won't happen again, I promise.

Whatever you do, DON'T tell us what your teacher says about your concerns.

You can't do vocal inflections in type. But Gnarly Parker got it in one. Say "Great" like you just stepped out to get in your car to head to a gig and not only do you see the headlights fade out from being left on all night and day (you are the one), but you step ina nice steaming pile of dog crap.
Then say "minds" like you're thinking "What ****ing idiot thinks that THIS is going to help in any way?"

Better? Better.
