Terrorist Attack in Glasgow

I just recieved this in an email today. They are not my opinions and are COMPLETELY meant as a joke. I just cracked up reading it and the fact that we as a nation can take a serious attempt to kill our own, and visitors to our fair land and shrug it off and laugh :)

they have just named the 2 guys from the Glasgow incident, The names are,

"Singed Inajeep" & "Mohamed Sonafire"



If this had happened in a US airport,compared to glasgow

Eyewitness accounts.

America :"Oh my God! there was a man on fire,he was running about, i just ran for my life..i thought i was gonna die,he got so close to me"

Glasgow "C*nt wis running aboot on fire,so a ran up n gave him a good boot,then decked him"

America :"I just wanna get home,away from here..i just wanna get home,i thought i was gonna die"

Glasgow :"here shug,am no leaving here till am oan a f*ckin' plane!"

America :"there was pandemonium,people were running in all
directions,we didn't know what was hapening,i thought i was gonna die"

Glasgow :"F*ck this fir a kerry oan,moan we ll get a pint in"

America :"We thought he was gonna blow us all up he had a gas
canister,and was trying to get into his trunk,i thought we were gonna die,i just ran for my life"

Glasgow :"a swaggered by the motor that wis on fire,and the dafty
couldnae even open his boot,he wis in fire annaw so a ran up n gave him a good boot to the baws"

America :there was this huge explosion,it sounded like war,i thought i was gonna die"

Glasgow :"There wis a bang,yi know when yi throw BO basher intae a fire it wis like that"

America :"i'm too traumatised even to speak,i thought i was gonna die"

Glasgow "here mate,gies 2 minutes till a phone ma auld dear,if am
gonna be oan the telly a want her tae tape it"

And finally, two quotes from an eye-witness.........john smeaton (these are real) John just surpassed himself on the National ITV new. The interviewer asked "What message do you have for the bombers" - he replied "This is Glasgow we'll just set about you"

John done an interview on cnn and they asked how he restrained the guy and he said "me and other folk were just tryin 2 get the boot in and some other guy banjoed him" !

I admire how the Brits keep a stiff upper lip in the face of terror attacks. People really need to get some perspective.

I don't think Britain has endured anything like 9/11 since the Blitz, though, so don't judge us too harshly for our reaction....

I dont think it is about the old school stiff upper lip. I personally think if you end up walking around in fear of the unknown, the terrorists have won.

I am just too flamin stuborn to let them think that. I think it must be bred into us.

I personally have no complaints with the way the brits deal with terrorism. For the most part their track record is fairly good. I do believe that the entire west needs to get a reality check on what we're dealing with. The good news is the second generation of Jihadhist does not seem to be as well trained or organized as the first. We have damaged their infrastructure. The bad news is, this is not about peace in the middle east, or the Iraq war, or past western colonialism. It s clearly about a group of people who are convinced that killing us for what we believe (even the right to express ourselves in music) is their god anointed duty. And they don't care if it takes two years or two hundred years to accomplish their goals

I didn't bring the IRA into this thread..., and on the actual point, you're not getting what I mean when I say it was a different era. Back in the primetime of the struggles in NI, the British Police and Government, plus the Irish authorities, had to fight the IRA without the modern day technology of the Pentagon or for that matter, and to a lesser degree, the newer Scotland Yard.

Enforcement against terrorism was much harder, with no cross dialogue of mega-powerful databases, full of fingerprints, photos and intelligence. To go from NI to England requires a decent boat that can cross the North Sea, not an 8000 mile airtrip thru modern day security ridden airports, customs and immigration officials... a different era indeed.

Bred into us indeed... When I was a kid I remember helping my Grandad dig the air-raid shelter up out of the garden in my Great Grandmothers house. My Great Grandfather had been captured in Belgium very early and was a guest of Hitler for most of the war. They lived in Croydon, which is in the middle of quite a few South East England RAF airfields. The shelter was now rotting under the ground and causing problems for the runner-beans. That was one of the only times I saw my Grandad nearly crack with emotion. When we uncovered it and I went inside, and he told me how he slept there with all those bombs going off around them, or simply with the huge rumble of bombers overhead going to where they were going, night after night, and he told me with a smile... it made me realise how strong that generation really was. It truly knocked me out!!!!!

In terms of the sheer number of casualties in one event it's hard to beat 9/11 (thank your chosen deity). In terms of impact it seems to me that things like the Market Street bomb in Manchester and the Docklands bombings are too easily forgotten: which brings me back around to the point about getting on with it. I lived on Market Street for 3 years.

Mr Ritchey, that is excellent. Haven't seen it for quite a while. ;)

Reminds me of this little missive that went out after the 2002 Dudley earthquake. I think Brits might get the humour here a little better than our US friends, but anyway...

Rescue workers are still searching through the rubble and have found large quantities of personal belongings including benefit books and jewellery from Elizabeth Duke at Argos.

Well - we're back to disagreeing !!

I think the point is that nobody knows how good or bad the terrorist organisation is ... we are at a much greater level of alert now and the US certainly was at a very low level of alert just before 9/11 - no checks on domestic flights for example..:hmm:

The interesting thing about the latest series of bungled attacs is that they have turned out to be organised by a group of Doctors - who were or had been working in the UK National health Service!!

So - 6 of those arrested were (legitimately) trained as Doctors in various Middle East countries - then secured jobs in Britain!

The question is - was this a big organised plot to set up "sleepers" within Britain...? :eyebrow:

How many doctors in the US (or other countries - there was an arrest in Australia yesterday!!) are Muslim and may have been set up to take out targets at some time in the future...?

We don't really know - maybe theyare much better organised than we think and are just waiting for the right time/place...:hmm:

I had a pretty good friend in grad school who was from Glasgow, and I learned how to "understand" a fair bit of his dialect/accent after a time, but the person on the video was more or less unintelligible to me. I think he was talking about kicking one of the terrorists, but I'm not too sure.

An aside, it looks like John Smeaton has garnered quite a following on YouTube. Look how many videos pop up when you search his name.
