My oldies band does that, as well as a similarly structured tune, Don Covay's "Mercy Mercy", which the Stones also had a go at. The Covay original had some guitarist named Jimi playing on it…

When my band was just starting out in 1988, we did a B-side Abbey Road Medley: Mean Mr. Mustard -Polythene Pam - She Came In Through the Bathroom Window - Golden Slumbers - Carry That Weight - The End. I was maybe a year or two into playing bass at that time, and learning all that McCartney by ear was a huge leap for me.

Mt 1st band used to do Mean Mr. Mustard through She Came In ...current band does Golden Slumbers -The End. Separated by 30 plus years.

Always wanted to do this one

They are a local band and I recently heard an interview with their lead singer/guitarist. He is currently a truck driver here in Toronto. He spoke of walking into local watering holes and seeing live bands performing his song. He thought it was great but also mentioned that most every guitar player he has heard play the song, is not playing it correctly. I thought it kinda funny.

Another we keep to close a gig is Pearl's a Singer by Elkie Brooks. It never ceases to amaze me how many people of all ages know most of the words. I say most, as there is always a contingent that joins in with Pearl's a Minger!

It's probably not for everyone, and AFAIK it was never released in the US. Comedy value is 100% and we really pile on the 'ham and cheese'.
