Every time I watch that video, I have to remind myself that those kids in the audience are my age. Nobody knows about the Feelgoods or Pub Rock in the US. A few people crossed over to punk/new wave, like Nick Lowe or Eddie and the Hot Rods("Do Anything You Want To Do" is such a great song), and Ducks Deluxe kinda morphed into The Motors, but all that, Lowe excepted, got ignored as well.

He got shellacked, but I couldn't say it was his fault because the Cincinnati defense was abysmal. I was actually impressed by his acrobatics in making saves. I played serious hockey in my younger days and as a goalie myself I certainly appreciated Mike.Yes he did face a lot of rubber.Hartford had some good tenders.If my old memory serves me, Pete Sidorkiewicz and Sean Burke weren't slouches either.As a Bs fan I saw some epic matches twixt these teams.Always appreciated a good goaltending performance.

We also do the Donnas "take it off". We get a good reaction, so we keep them despite being a bit deeper cuts.

I used to play in a band that would play oddballs like "crawling from the wreckage" and "Sunday Papers", but nobody knew those at all, and we'd get blank stares.

Is Dave Edmunds still around? I saw Rockpile (Edmunds and Lowe) in the late 70s. Crawling from the Wreckage has to be one of the greatest rock tunes ever....

Back in the 70s, my folk rock group Hard Water did a cover of the Youngblood's "Grizzly Bear". It was kind of a jug band/rag time/rock version, that went over well in the coffee houses at Rutgers U. When we imploded into a guitar-bass-fiddle version of the band, the song sounded even better.

It's been a while since I've been gigging and my last band did mostly originals, but the first song we ever played was a cover and was kind of integral to our sound (so much so, that after one show, the trumpet player said of it that it was the first show we'd done that was all originals, then remembered that this one was a cover).

Anyway, our song was "Everybody Knows," a Leonard Cohen cover. I have a live recording available here: https://don.dream-in-color.net/music/mp3/01 Everybody Knows.mp3 (I did some fun chordal things in the bass part).
