Not so unknown and IIRC it wasn't a b-side either, but i haven't heard another cover band around here doing Life on Mars by Bowie. We play it almost every gig. A great song by a genius songwriter if you ask me

Song written by Al Kooper for the first Blood Sweat & Tears album. Donny Hathaway covered it! The arrangement was copped from Beth Hart's version. Our BL is a big fan. "I Love You More Than You'll Ever Know." (PS: That's Jimmy A in back getting on-the-job training. He'd just joined us a week or so before.) Dr. B does pretty good with it.

I LOVE Lizzy's 'Cowboy Song', when I was starting out, the local band of heavy-duty players would blow that out, back to back with 'Boys Are Back in Town' (of course, they were current tunes back then).

In a little trio when I started out, the guitar player and drummer were brothers, and both big-time Beatle nuts, fine with me. We were playing all the current Top 40 on our gigs, but they always included this:



I honestly don't know how much radio play this ever had (seems like I don't remember it on the radio . . . ), but they pulled it out to do. We worked up a virtually perfect copy (combining two guitar parts down to one), and I loved it every time we did it, and one of the fondest memories of a young guy starting out in the bands. I just love Ringo's little 'falling down stairs' roll in the tag where they sing ,' because I told you before (Ringo's quick fill), you can't do that', and the rest of his part. Ringo was/is the man.
