Significant how? Have you worked out the difference in voltage drop that upgrade buys you?

A $15 14 gauge cord has 61% less resistance than an 18 gauge wire. The $199 über-cord has 78% less resistance than 18 gauge. Over 6' drawing 10 amps, a 14 gauge cord will drop 0.36 volts, and 18 gauge cord will give up 0.9 volts. Given the information from über-cord's site, their cord is equivalent to 12 gauge, so the loss over 6' will be 0.24 volts. Nice 0.036 volts/$ improvement for the $15 cord over the stock 18 gauge; less so 0.003 volts/$ improvement with the über-cord. Better yet, plug in 6' closer to the electric panel.

Does any of this make a difference one can hear? We can all try this at home by A/B testing with and without a 6' extension cord. Or to exaggerate the effect, try a 25' or 50' cord.

The über-cord is handsome, but I think I'll pass.

0.036 volts is... where's my calculator... 0.03% Vd on 120VAC. Assuming your numbers are correct (did you use Table 8 in the NEC?), then that is far, far below the voltage variance from a typical utility, and you'll see more delta vee simply by moving to another wall outlet than you will from swapping power cords. I'll use any old power cord and it won't make the slightest difference in my amp's performance.

Buddy Rich famously asked for a large sum of money in his time ($5K per year in the '60s I recall, which is about $75K in current times) to play a product to push it in the market place. Gretsch would never pay which is why of all the drums he played he never played Gretsch. Rogers paid him but he would infuriate them by frequently playing a Fibes snare. But Buddy Rich played all kinds of drums some of which like 'VOX" were less than stellar and he still made them sound like "Buddy Rich". The is a story on the Suhr website where JSuhr recalls checking out Eddie Van Halen's guitar after a blistering solo he witnessed. It was a Steinberger with rusty strings. My two cents: 1. It's in the hands, and 2.professional musicians make a living from performances, recordings, clinics, teaching, AND endorsements. Sports people do so all the time, it's a living. Selling snake oil or selling the best possible shoe, guitar or amp, on the dream that you can perform/sound like some star is the same thing - it is lending a name to push a product, truth has nothing to do with it. The number of people who sound or played exactly like Buddy Rich from all his ads over the years was still only ever one - Buddy Rich.

Maybe I was being too obscure, but it seems like in just about every Monster cable "debate", just before it slides into personal attacks and shouting matches and the mods have to wade in and clean up the mess, someone chimes in with some nonsense like, "You paid $5000 for that Roscoe (or whatever) and now you are going to connect it to your amp with a $15 cable???" Like they were putting retread tires on their Lamborghini. I was making fun of that, no more, no less.

That's how I read it and I thought it was pretty funny.

I just didn't think the was really the appropriate response. More like --
