If you like vintage tones, try a set of flat wounds. These amps sound great with flats! Gets you that Muscle Shoals David Hood tone in spades.

Thanks, I tend to only play rounds these days tho. But maybe one day.

Picked it up today, its scratchy and has distortion on the lows. But everythings there so no biggie, it's a project.
Volume knob on the guitar part produces noise/hum that gets louder with the more you crank it.

But everything works.

Got the 150 cleaned up, now everythings sounding as it should...if you like constant distortion :)

In other words, all the hum and buzz is gone, but strike a chord and it breaks up. Not terribly so, like a mild overdrive.

Any thoughts anyone?

After letting the amp sit while powered up for a few hours, no more distortion. Still ordered a new cap.
Sounds very nice now.

The 150-series power supply has a couple of thermistors to vary the bias as things warm up, however that's only over the course of a couple of minutes not hours so it doesn't seem likely that it's related to your situation. Hopefully you'll luck out and things stabilize without the distortion.

Cool.

The amp most likely sat for years, judging by the dirt.
