What kind of PA are you playing through? While you won't be getting Mr Webster's sound going direct into the PA, ot using a ToneBone or Pandora could get you heard

Another technique that might get a laugh would be to get the band to turn down and allow the sound guy to use the PA to provide sound for the FOH. Believe it or not showing up with a smaller amp and letting the sound person take over might make friends in many of these venues. And another advantage would be that you might be able to hear each other better.

And even more important is that when you hit 70 you'll be able to hear your Grankids.
