I guess in some ways I've already decided to go to the JJ 5 string, but I just wanted to see if any of you helpful folks might shed some light on the soapbars in the JT-500SS and that big fat humbucker in the M Series. I had considered the AP-500MJ as it seems like it might be versatile like I'm wanting, but really the guitars without the pickguards kinda make me go "ho-hum."

If you liked your jazz, I'd say go with the JJ. The active preamp will probably help get you that punch you're looking for.
And I agree 100% that the MJ would be supersweet if they'd put the JJ style pickguard on there.

A 5 string SS with the Black Cherry pickguard. I will post the pics that Darrell sent me later. It looks tasty!!!! Real tasty!!

Marwady... 2 MM pickup doesn't make it a "double-powered" Stingray...

If you want StingRay sound, I think the single MM pickup one may give you more chance.

I tried a friend's bass with 2 MM pickup and it doesn't sound like Stingray at all. That's why I replied.

Hi there @all,

this is my first Post here. Please execuse my English. I´ve learned in School, and School is long ago. I come from Germany.

The TBC Basses look great. I´d like to buy one of those in a few Month, but I have to wait for their answer. I asked them if they will ship to Germany. Okay, that means I can´t test this Bass, so it´s important to read your Reviews. I´d like to buy the JJ-400 Bass.

I guess for this Price you can´t go wrong. Another Bass I really like is the Ken Smith Design Proto-J 704. This one is available also in Germany, but it would be 200,- Eur. more expencive.

What do you think.....?
