From the little bit of info I've found, they seem to be well regarded. The J is sweet, but I like the MM even better... rawk!

The company was started by a former(20+years)employee of Peavey who decided a few years ago to start his own co.the Bass pictured is from the newest edition.I played a few of the older models(that they no longer make or offer)and was blown away.the tone was similar to the MM Stingray but a little more prestine and it had one MM style pickup in it.the owner of TBC is the brother of the owner of Lightwave Music.I think the new TBC line is definately worth checking out.

Hey thanks Jauqo. There's no wayh for you to recognize me on here by screen name, but I used to chat with you from time to time at Guitar Center in Chicago. It was about 3 years or so ago that I was living there and I used to run into you there quite a bit.

Jack Wilson(of TBC)is the brother of Mike Wilson(of Lightwave-music.com)Steve Wilson is Mike Wilson's son making him Jack Wilson's nephew.

i don't know much about the basses since i've never played one, but they look pretty f'n sweet with that wood pickguard. i'd buy one on looks alone and customze it to fit my tastes.

When I spoke to Steve Wilson of Lightwave, he talked about how his uncle (thought it was cousin, but now I do think uncle sounds right) found that he couldn't make a bass the quality he wanted and sell it for what he thought was reasonable while building these in CA, but at the same time he didn't want to "farm" them out for an overseas company to build. His solution was to find a group of workers in China and actually move (not sure if this is part time or full time) there, train them himself and then supervise the shop that they are built in, giving him day to day oversight on all production. Sort of a different approach compared to other builders

There is surprisingly good consistent quality coming out of China these days, not unlike what we've seen from Japan over the past twenty years. Combine that quality control, low production cost, a low currency and you have good value for bassists.

I haven't played one, but Steve Wilson spoke very highly of what Jack was doing. I have been eyeing the 5 string on ebay, too.

I have owned 3 TBC's the early USA MM models, still hold onto the 5 string, they are AWESOME, the new ones are excellent especially for cheaper then a MIM bass new

I own on of the earlier USA MM 4strings. And I had one of those five strings too.

Fantastic instruments. (got my 4 string for 300, and the 5 for 500) both better than any real MM I've played.
