The bassplayer equivalent to U2's The Edge?

That's like the worst fake U2 ever. It shows me mainly that the Edge is actually a good musician.

How full of yourself have you got to be to call yourself "the edge" !

Um, ok...i guess. I'm not sure why that would make him "full of himself". It isn't like he gave himself the nickname "God" or something. Besides, it isn't like he even gave himself the nickname "Edge" in the first place - other people (supposedly Bono if you believe one story) gave it to him and it stuck. He goes by "Dave"....

I think you're quite nuts. Neither of those guys play what I would call simple lines. Particularly with Tool, many of the basslines are pretty technical and in difficult time signatures.

I also don't think you're being quite fair to The Edge. The whole POINT of his creativity is his usage of effects to create memorable guitar lines. Of course they sound stupid and simple without the effects. They were WRITTEN through the effects. Check out the quote in the sig.

He also cowrites all the songs with Bono...and THAT'S a talent no amount of gear can buy you. Period.

I've seen U2 live, with the Edge holding an entire stadium of people enraptured with just an unprocessed acoustic guitar. That comedian's clip was funny, sure, but really, the Edge IS a good musician.
