The Best Compliment Ever.

"You suck a lot less then you use to!"

The hidden insult ones are always good.

My brother, who is incredibly cynical (and usually funny) yelled out "That was definitely NOT ****" during a good gig my band did recently. :) Called out at the end of a killer song, his timing was perfect ... he'd make a better frontman than the lead singer!

It's also important to consider the knowledge and musical taste of the person making the comment. Afer the same gig the comment from the sound person was "Great bass tone you have, and nice playing"; from the g/f of the (folksy-quiet style) guitarist (who was also in quieter folksy music) - "Your bass sound made me feel like vomiting, and I had to hold onto the bar to stop myself falling down" ... :bassist: :D

Not to take away from your compliment, but I've been told from several people (a couple musicians and a couple music lovers) that I must have some "black" in me. Now, I'm as white as you can get since I'm 75% German and 25% Irish and I hate the heat so I hide from the sun, OK? :eyebrow:

Sooooo, anyway, whether or not it's PC to say that (or post it here) I really take it as a compliment.

My goal is to make "it" sound real with as much soul as I have.

It's not what you play, but how you play it.
