I have a Subway D800, a Walkabout, 2 1x12 Scout Radiators, a 1x15 Scout Radiator and a Powerhouse 2x10.
That gives me something like 13 amp/power/speaker combinations.
I also have a MIA Jazz and a MIM Precision.
After tinkering for many hours with various combinations, I have come up with the following to get good use out of everything while optimizing the use of each piece of gear.
I am very curious to get opinions from all of you on my long winded write up, particularly from the Master, AgedHorse!
I have landed on the D800 with the two 12 inch Radiators as my main gigging rig for the J Bass.
I set the Voicing to about 2:00 to get a Vintage Tone, which I suspect a lot of WA users like.
I set the preamp as high as I can without lighting up the OD LED. Deep Switch on, Passive input. I run the EQ flat except for the Bass which I also set at 2:00.
I set the ohm switch to 2 ohms to match the 600 watts of power to the two 300 watt cabinets.
This all gives me a WA like tone with lots of smooth bottom and a nice snappy slap tone. I have not been able to get this range of tones with one setting configurations on my WA.
I also practice with the J Bass using the D800 into the PH 2x10 on the J Bass Funk settings suggested in the manual. I set the Ohm switch to 4/8 to match the 400 watts to the 400 watt 2x10 PH cabinet. Super snappy, modern and fun.
When I want to gig with the P Bass, I use the Walkabout set to the Driving Rock settings suggested in the manual with the 1x15 Scout Radiator. It is a 4 Ohm 300 watt cabinet which matches with the 300 watt WA.
I really don't think you can beat that rig for a P Bass, and between the hot P signal and the 4 Ohm 15 it is really loud.
Of course, in a big outdoor setting, I can set the D800 to 2 Ohms, hook the 4 ohm 15 up to one output and daisy chain the (2)8 ohm 12 inch cabinets to the second output and stack them.
This drives 800 watts into 900 watts of speaker cabinets that have a pretty well balanced load.
Sorry for the long post, but I suspect others are trying to justify keeping both amps and I just thought it might be good to share what has amounted to ALOT of time and energy thinking and playing around with how to best use both amps.
