3. Mono cases are the way to go, The hardshells are SO inconvinient. First thing I did was buy a mono gig bag M80 I believe.

I can confirm 1) and 3) , the stealth however was worn off (bought it used). But this has some charm too
Sold it to buy a Reflex H5 (maybe a mistake...), keeping my HS5 though
Good to hear about 1&2. I have a de-tuner on the way already. As far as the case goes, it came with the hardshell and I’m very ok with that.
Seems to be love/hate with the MM hardshell case.
Personally I love mine, lost count of number of gigs its been on, still going strong.
Compared to my Fender and Peavey hard cases....more durable, lighter and better hardware.

I have 3 sitting in storage to never be used haha but yeah a free case is nice.
Have haedshell on all mine - I won't put this expensive/nice an instrument in a gig bag. I use the bavs for my beaters . .
The only EBMM cases I don't use are the special ones that came witn my two anniversay Stingrays, and for those, I bought the same SKB the "normal" ones come in. (Same as EBMM hard case, just no logo). I treat these as more "collectable" instruments, so keep the cases unused in thr box.

I didn't realize the stealth's could "wear" like that... I love that look!
Had a Bongo HH 5 for awhile. Loved a lot about it but also struggled with liking the neck pickup. The slap tone with both pickups was my favorite ever though. I mostly sold it because someone offered me way more than I paid for it, but kind of regret selling it.
Been wondering if I should try an HS 5 instead? They seem to come up used fairly often.
Anyone have both and compare the two?

Hi everyone! I'm not new to Bongo ownership having owned 2 black Bongo 5 HS's in the past, one a LE with the gold hardware and the other a regular model. I had sold the LE, regretted it, and bought the other one to replace it. I gave up playing back in 2011 because I was sick of the politics in the scene around here and everything I owned went into its cases for a number of years. In 2019 I sold my Bongo to help fund a motorcycle purchase. A year and a half later I went down on that bike and messed myself up good enough to be partially made of titanium nowadays (living tissue over metal endoskeleton and all that). So about 6 weeks into my recovery, once the cast on my arm came off but my leg was still far from healed, I started playing again to pass the time and now it's back to a couple of hours a day after the wife and kid have gone to sleep. I've since amassed a decent Spector collection and a couple of others but miss my Bongo. Happy to say I let go of a four string Spector this week (which I got as part of a trade - I haven't really played 4 strings in almost 25 years) and just made a deal on a 2011 Sterling Silver HH 5. I'm back and I'm kind of stoked to have an HH for the first time.
I've had 2 HS's and tbh I wasn't a fan of the neck pickup soloed on either of them. I think these basses just sound better blended a little bit one way or the other but not panned hard to either pickup alone.
Thank you. I have a little nerve damage in my foot but I'm 95% of where I was and I'm happy with it. I can still do everything I did before. I even still train Brazilian jiu jitsu but my I had to adapt my game to my new limitations. All things considered I definitely had someone looking out for me.
Yeah it might just be the nature of the beast.
Will be curious what you think of the HH in contrast to to the HS
I have 3 6HH and have tried many HS. The only issue I have with the HS is the weak tone you get in comparison. Bongos are a jack of all trades, just need to dial them in to your liking. I LOVE the slap tone I can get.
If you are finding issues with the fact that they are hot pickups, you can always get a compressor which helps quite a bit!

Which I'm guessing is fairly subjective.
Def subjective. If you are looking for a more passive sound, then yes go S. but again, you can get way more tonality in the HH.
Just bought a barolo 5 HH... Excited to be back in Bongo world next week
